No. Paver cleaning and sealing is not a permanent weed-control treatment.
Cleaning can remove visible weeds and surface growth, and re-sanding fills the joints with fresh sand. However, if weed growth is extensive or has become established beneath the pavers, the underlying roots may remain after cleaning. In these cases, weeds can grow back through the joints even after professional cleaning, re-sanding and sealing.
New seeds can also settle into the joints over time. Sealing can help protect the paver surface and make routine maintenance easier, but it should not be considered a guarantee against future weed growth.
Extensive weed growth beneath the pavers may require the pavers to be lifted and the underlying growth and base addressed before re-sanding and sealing. This is a separate service from standard paver cleaning and sealing.
That white, chalky haze is efflorescence, and it’s salt and minerals working their way out of the concrete as moisture evaporates from the pavers. It’s natural and it doesn’t mean the pavers are failing, but it does dull the look. We can treat and remove it as part of the cleaning, and sealing afterward helps slow how much of it comes back to the surface.
A natural finish keeps the pavers looking the way they do now, just clean, with no added sheen. A wet look, or enhanced finish, deepens the color and adds a slight sheen, like the pavers look right after rain. It comes down to taste. Some people love the richer wet look, others want their patio to look untouched. Both protect the same way. We’ll show you the difference before you decide.
Yes, we can. But this is a re-levelling job, not part of a standard clean and seal. When pavers heave or dip, it’s usually the base underneath that’s moved, so they have to be lifted, the base re-levelled, and the pavers reset before any sealing makes sense. We’ll assess it during the estimate and tell you honestly whether you’re looking at a clean and seal or whether some areas need re-leveling first.
Plan to keep foot traffic off for about 24 hours and vehicles off for 48 to 72 hours, though it depends on the sealer and the weather on the day. Damp or cool conditions slow the cure, which is one more reason we don’t rush it. We’ll give you exact timing when we finish so you know when it’s safe to walk and park on again.
